Linkin Park was an American rock band formed in Agoura Hills, California, in 1996. The band's original lineup consisted of Mike Shinoda (vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards), Brad Delson (lead guitar), Rob Bourdon (drums), Dave "Phoenix" Farrell (bass guitar), Joe Hahn (turntables, samples), and the late Chester Bennington (vocals). Chester Bennington joined the band in 1999, and his powerful and emotional vocals became one of the defining features of Linkin Park's sound.
