What Do We Think About Miley's New Song 'Flowers'?

'Flowers' is a good piece of work from Miley Cyrus and the subtext behind the track about her ex undoubtedly makes it more listenable. Vocally, she doesn’t deliver like she has done on songs such as in the album ‘Plastic Hearts,’ but this seems to be a new era for Miley. The song has elements of funk behind it coupled with a slimline beat throughout. It doesn’t pick up much and the tone is perhaps a little too subtle with her range not hitting any high points at all. It’s hard to tell whether the new album ‘Endless Summer Vacation’ will stay at this level or there will be a mixture of styles.

It seems as though she is at a more self-accepting place in her personal life, though, which she is evidently sharing through her new music. Without the context of her ex, the music video is well produced and captures the essence of Miley through the fashion and imagery. The singer is no stranger to experimenting with her style and this is possibly another exciting route to keep an eye on, albeit very different from her last. If ‘Flowers’ is a taste of what’s on the new album Miley Cyrus will certainly be keeping her popstar status.
